Posted by Admin in Tattoo Blog on 01 29th, 2009
I never thought someday owls would make me smile. Sneak a peak at the tattoo pictured above. Imagine, someone got an owl inked on his half bald head. Don’t tell me this guy got his half head shaved to get this tat inked. Quite possible! Tattoo fanatics you know can go to extremes. Owls never catch any one’s attention but owl tattoos and freaky ones is sure to fascinate you all.

Few days back we come up with some really cool couple tattoos, here is yet another tattoo for lovers. What’s unusual about this tat is that it’s a spider tat. We have seen lovers getting each other’s name, initials or similar flower kind tattoos inked but why would lovers get spiders inked? I simply don’t understand but one thing we all can’t deny is that it’s a really cool tattoo. What say?

TatuARTE en la Piel Magazine
Posted by Admin in Needled on 01 28th, 2009
So, yesterday, I’m sitting poolside with a fruity cocktail in my all-inclusive Cancun resort for aging frat boys, trying to look mean and unapproachable, when the staff wheel out our afternoon refried beans and plantains (pretty dangerous as the drunk guys surrounding me were lookin gassy already).
Hungry and armed with Beano, I made the arduous 10-foot trek to the food, and upon arrival, was greeted by the buffet dude with a jaunty “Hello Miss Tattoo” — to which I smiled and gave an Hola right back. He then continued…
“I like tattooed women. Veeerrry sexy.”
“Um, are those quesadillas?”
“You have lots of tattoos. Arms, back, belly. Djou have one on your ass?”
“Wow, tacos, my favorite!”
Alas, my focus on food and ignoring the question freed me from further inquiry and leering at that moment, but I did have to be saved from him later on by other hotel homies who were tattooed and super cool.
In fact, saw a lot of excellent tattoo work on the staff — sadly those on the guests horrified my snob sensibilities — and found that most of it came out of Mexico City and Guadalajara, not the tattoo tourist traps of Mayan Riviera Row.
It reminded me of the most excellent Mexican tattoo publication, TatuARTE en la Piel, created by the kickass Karem Martinez and Danny Yerna, also owners of Wakatanka Body Arts.
The latest issue is pure sexy time with reports from fetish fest Trauma, but also hot work from tattooists Sanya and Missouri’s Jason Fancher (of whom I’m a huge fan). There’s also a special feature on tribal tattoos after my own black(work) heart.
Picking up a copy has been the better way to practice my Spanish here, although I’m only really getting good at saying “Less ice, more Tequila please.” You can order your own copy online. Check it.
Ok, gonna log off and get back to slathering SPF 500. Hasta mañana!

Stallone Tattoos
Posted by Admin in Needled on 01 28th, 2009
Yesterday in my Mexican sun and Margarita haze, I made a booboo in the Tattoo News Review. I wrote that Sylvester Stallone’s hot tattooed bod was adorned with a mix of real and faux tattoos for his new movie “The Expendable.”
But, in fact, the photo I linked to showed all new real custom tattoos in addition to the Mike Devries portrait of Sly’s wife that I linked.
My buddy Miguel set me straight today:
“The tattoos on Stallone are real at least in that picture. The right side is done by Marco Cerretelli, the left is done by Kore Flatmo and it goes around the shoulder also. Just a little bit of trivia for a sister. “
There ya go. Now let’s all go out and do some crunches.
